Our team is developing a payment gateway for accepting funds from users on behalf of merchants, as well as sending funds from merchants to users. The system involves storing user payment data and is subject to PCI DSS compliance. It contains multiple integrations with payment systems, providers, and other gateways and processors, including 3DS.


We are looking for a Merchant Operation Specialist to join the growing Payment Gateway project.


Responsibilities

  • Precheck Coordination: Prepare and send pre-check requests to acquirers, presenting merchant profiles and documentation to confirm whether a Merchant Identification (MID) can be opened.
  • Merchant Profiling: Review and validate merchant information, ensuring all supporting documents and compliance requirements are met before submission.
  • Acquirer Communication: Maintain clear and professional communication with acquiring banks and PSPs to expedite approvals and clarify requirements.
  • Onboarding Support: Once pre-checks are approved, assist merchants in completing onboarding processes, including application forms and KYC/KYB documentation.
  • Process Optimization: Identify bottlenecks in merchant onboarding and proactively suggest improvements to speed up deal flow.
  • Cross-Team Collaboration: Work closely with the sales, CSM and partnership teams to ensure accurate and timely delivery of merchant data and operational updates.

Requirements

  • Experience: Minimum 1 year in operations at an IT, payments, or fintech company.
  • Attention to Detail: You are meticulous with data accuracy and document verification.
  • Communication: Strong written communication skills for coordinating with acquirers and internal teams.
  • Ownership: Proactive and driven to move deals forward quickly, ensuring merchants are onboarded efficiently.
  • Technical Familiarity: Basic understanding of payment processing, MIDs, acquirers, and high-risk merchant categories.
  • Tools: Comfortable working with CRMs, document management systems, and email communication workflows
